Chiefs Justin Reid Indeed Had An Amazing Event To Help Benefit Kansas City’s Youth

Chiefs safety Justin Reid launched the JReid InDeed foundation with the mission to serve disadvantaged youth and communities in Houston, Baton Rouge, and right here in Kansas City. The foundation focuses on three important areas that make up his Fully Charged initiative: nutrition, athletics, and technology. Oftentimes in underserved communities these three pillars are extremely important to focus on to help the advancement of youth in need.

Reid and his team hosted their inaugural Cocktails 4 A Cause event last night with the mission to raise funds to assist students with their 2024 Tackling Tech Computer Science Camp. The first Tackling Tech Camp was launched this past July where the foundation hosted a three week computer science camp for high school students to help the advancement and success of the students future. Students were able to have hands-on experience with coding, networking opportunities while building their skillset, and also had the option to do fun fitness activities led by Reid.

Cocktails 4 A Cause included multiple celebrity bartenders to create and serve drinks; with the proceeds from drink sales benefiting the foundation. The bartenders also included Reid and other Chiefs players like cornerback Trent McDuffie. This sold out event also included a live auction with premium, fun events to bid for. One auctioned event even included a chance to attend the upcoming Drake’s It’s All A Blur Tour with Reid and friends. Alongside him was Tamara Washington, Founder and CEO of Boom Media and Image Consulting, who led the event ensuring the immense success of helping raise funds for her client’s foundation – which they did just that.

Early last week Reid and a student that attended his first camp in July were interviewed by Great Day KC about the impact the camp had. The student expressed how he met a lot of new people, learned more about tech/coding, and overall that he had a good time hanging out with the Chiefs player. “Technology is inherently expensive, so you want to be able to lessen that burden and be able to get as many students in there as we can.” Reid shared in his interview as he excitedly talked about hosting the second annual camp in 2024.

Donations currently sit at more than double of the anticipated $10k goal. Proceeds will continue to benefit the youth within the community; helping to create a better future for underprivileged students.
